Fiescheralp - Aletschgletscher - Konkordiahütte

This tour can only be completed with a mountain guide and appropriate equipment. The hike starts at Fiescheralp and initially leads across alpine pastures towards Märjela. You reach the Gletscherstube Märjela and the remains of the former Märjelenseen through a tunnel. Where the large Märjelensee once lay, only smaller lakes and ponds remain today - an impressive example of the retreat of the Aletschgletscher.

From Märjela, the route continues down to the Grosser Aletschgletscher. Now begins the most spectacular part of the tour: the route leads straight through the high alpine glacier landscape across the ice. The Aletschgletscher is the largest glacier in the Alps, and the path to Konkordiahütte follows its medial moraine for a considerable distance. Surrounded by massive peaks, a unique landscape of ice, rock, and snow unfolds.

The further you follow the glacier, the closer you get to Konkordiaplatz, where several large glacier arms converge. At the end of the glacier section, a final demanding part awaits: following marked trail traces, ladders, and wooden steps, the route climbs steeply for about 150 vertical meters up to the Konkordiahütte SAC at 2'850 m a.s.l. The hut sits enthroned high above the glacier, offering a spectacular view back over the vast sea of ice.
