From Diavolezza up to Munt Pers
The hike starts at the Diavolezza mountain station at almost 3'000 m a.s.l. From here, the narrow mountain trail leads uphill over the southeast ridge. The landscape is high alpine: rock, scree and sparse vegetation define the path.
The path becomes increasingly steep and leads over rocky terrain up to the Munt Pers at 3'206 m a.s.l. The summit is the highlight of the tour - and offers a spectacular 360-degree panorama.
The view of the Persgletscher and Morteratschgletscher as well as the imposing peaks of Piz Palü, Bellavista and Piz Bernina is particularly impressive. In Romansh, Munt Pers means "lost mountain". The name goes back to an old legend, according to which hunters disappeared on the mountain while searching for a beautiful fairy.
After a long break at the summit, you head back to Diavolezza along the same path. Although the tour is relatively short with about an hour of ascent, one should not underestimate the altitude: the path is narrow and partially steep and requires sure-footedness. In return, Munt Pers is one of the most impressive viewing peaks in the Bernina region.
