Bannalp - Brunnihütte - Engelberg-Ristis

The hike starts on the Bannalp and first leads past the idyllic Bannalpsee towards Walegg. The lake is nestled in a sprawling high valley and provides a beautiful backdrop right from the start. The path then climbs to Walegg at around 1,950 m a.s.l. - the highest point of the tour. Once at the top, an impressive view of the Walenstöcke, the Bannalpsee, and far beyond the Engelbergertal opens up.

From Walegg, the path leads through the increasingly alpine landscape of the Walengräben. Rocky slopes and scree characterize this section, which is narrow in places but well-secured. Afterwards, the terrain becomes gentler again and the route continues over the Walenalp towards the Brunni area.

Another highlight is the Brunnihütte SAC with the Härzlisee located right next to it. Around the lake, the barefoot path invites you to pamper your feet, tired from your hiking boots, with a walk over pine cones, mud, and wood splinters.

To finish, the route goes down from the Brunnihütte to Ristis. Those who wish can let off steam on the summer toboggan run here. From there, the cable car takes hikers comfortably down to Engelberg. This varied high-altitude hike thus connects the quiet Bannalpsee, the impressive Walenstöcke, and the Brunni area into one of the most beautiful panoramic routes in Central Switzerland.
